Skin Lesion Removal in Scottsdale, AZ

WHAT IS A SKIN LESION?

There are many different types of benign lesions, including moles, warts, skin tags, and keratosis. Some lesions can form as lumps and bumps or as a cyst, as well as appear raised or lie beneath the skin, causing a dark spot. While most skin lesions are harmless and can be left alone, many people decide to have them removed for personal reasons or to avoid potential health risks, such as skin irritation or the future risk of possibly having skin cancer. At Arizona Premier Surgery serving the greater Phoenix area, we offer safe and effective lesion removal. There are a number of removal techniques used for lesions, including shaving, excision, and laser. During your consultation, we will examine your skin condition to determine which process is the best one for you. Because safety and your overall health are most important to us, if a lesion has indicators that it could be cancerous, you should consult with a medical professional before having lesion removal.

WHAT IS THE SKIN LESION REMOVAL TECHNIQUE?

Lesion removal is performed on-site with local anesthesia in our minor procedures room. The method used will be dependent on the size, depth, and location of the lesion. Some lesions can be easily removed with a simple shaving technique or laser treatment, but others may require excision. The removal method that is fit for your specific case will be determined during your initial consult. Regardless of the approach, our surgical team uses the latest surgical techniques in lesion removal so that scarring is kept to a minimum and the result is a smoother surface and natural, healthy skin appearance.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A SKIN LESION REMOVAL TREATMENT?

After your procedure, the treatment area may feel uncomfortable and sore. These symptoms usually fade away within a few days. Over-the-counter pain medication may be used to ease discomfort. If you received stitches, you should avoid washing or rubbing the stitches and follow all post-treatment instructions provided by our team. Typically, the skin will scab over and heal within 2 – 3 weeks with proper aftercare and the application of topical medication.
