About Lesion Removal
There are many different types of benign lesions, including moles, warts, skin tags, and keratosis. Some lesions can form as lumps and bumps or as a cyst, as well as appear raised or lie beneath the skin, causing a dark spot. While most skin lesions are harmless and can be left alone, many people decide to have them removed for personal reasons or to avoid potential health risks, such as skin irritation or the future risk of possibly having skin cancer. At Arizona Premier Surgery serving the greater Phoenix area, we offer safe and effective lesion removal. There are a number of removal techniques used for lesions, including shaving, excision, and laser. During your consultation, we will examine your skin condition to determine which process is the best one for you. Because safety and your overall health are most important to us, if a lesion has indicators that it could be cancerous, you should consult with a medical professional before having lesion removal.
Lesion removal is a procedure that is ideal for patients who have a mole, wart, skin tag, or keratosis. It is commonly performed for both cosmetic and medical reasons. Those who most benefit from the procedure typically meet the following criteria:
- Are experiencing chronic skin irritation
- Desire the removal of one or more skin lesions
- Feel self-conscious about their appearance because of a visible lesion
- Have a lesion that may be cancerous or benign
- Have a skin lesion in a prominent area on the body, such as the nose, chin, cheeks, or hands
- Worry that a lesion may turn cancerous in the future
"I was referred to Dr. Albert Amini following a ct scan. He professionally went over the results with me. His caring nature assured me that the results were probably non-evasive. He suggested a follow-up mri in 6 months. During my follow-up appointment, his caring professional demeanor asked me that son was alright. Dr. Amini sat with me, described the images of the mri, and gave me his professional opinion of the results of the scan."- H.F. / Yelp / Jan 19, 2018
"Dr. Pepple was my Surgeon for a very complicated surgery. He met with my family and explained everything in understandable terms and made me feel very much at ease about the upcoming procedure. He was at the hospital every day to monitor my progress and assure me everything was progressing as it should. Also, after surgery he explained everything that was accomplished to me and my family."- J.F. / Healthgrades / Apr 09, 2019

"I recently had robotic (partial gastroectomy) surgery performed by Dr. Amini. From the very first office visit to the post-op office visit, everything went extremely smooth. The office staff was very efficient, they scheduled PAT and surgery with the hospital in a timely fashion, etc. I did not feel like a forgotten patient. Surgery was very successful. I had very little pain, and a very speedy recovery. Also, Dr. Amini and his office staff (in Chandler) are very personable and easy to communicate with. 5 stars to Dr. Amini and the staff."- J.L. / Yelp / Apr 03, 2019
"I ended up with a perforated appendix shortly after New Year's 2019 and in the hospital. Dr. Pepple was assigned to me. He did a wonderful job of explaining the preferred plan of dealing with the situation, reducing the risk of additional complications and getting me on the road to recovery. He was realistic in outlining the timeframes involved in the preferred treatment approach, and flexible in moving up the my surgery once the initial infection was under control."- T.W. / Healthgrades / Mar 12, 2019
Lesion removal is performed on-site with local anesthesia in our minor procedures room. The method used will be dependent on the size, depth, and location of the lesion. Some lesions can be easily removed with a simple shaving technique or laser treatment, but others may require excision. The removal method that is fit for your specific case will be determined during your initial consult. Regardless of the approach, our surgical team uses the latest surgical techniques in lesion removal so that scarring is kept to a minimum and the result is a smoother surface and natural, healthy skin appearance.
What to Expect
After your procedure, the treatment area may feel uncomfortable and sore. These symptoms usually fade away within a few days. Over-the-counter pain medication may be used to ease discomfort. If you received stitches, you should avoid washing or rubbing the stitches and follow all post-treatment instructions provided by our team. Typically, the skin will scab over and heal within 2 – 3 weeks with proper aftercare and the application of topical medication.
