Licensed through the American College of Surgeons with an Arizona State Medical License, Dr. Marcie Leeds practices General Surgery at the Arizona Premier Surgery Center in Phoenix. With a compassionate approach and an impressive resume that includes a residency with the distinguished Thoracic and Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Jack Copeland, Dr. Leeds offers a wide range of surgical options. Skills and Specialities

With a comprehensive range of surgical interests, from general to complex surgery, Dr. Leeds specializes in hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and wound care. Her work under the illustrious Dr. Copeland and in the demanding, fast-paced emergency rooms of New York City provided a diligent work ethic and a capacity for different surgical proficiencies. Dr. Leeds is skilled to remove tumors from the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile duct through hepatobiliary surgery, as well as hernia repairs, gastroesophageal reflux, and more.

Education and Training

With an undergraduate degree in Biology from California Lutheran University and a graduate degree in biology and genetics from California State University, Dr. Leeds has been published for her work in genetics before even attending medical school. After obtaining her M.D. from the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, she moved Tucson, AZ to complete her General Surgery Residency at the University of Arizona. There, she was nationally commended for her care of U.S. House Representative Gabrielle Giffords after the targeted political shooting in 2011. Dr. Leeds went on to work at several highly-ranked hospitals in New York, including Brooklyn’s Lutheran Medical Center and Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Medical Hospital. The ERs in these hospitals are known to be some of the liveliest and most demanding, which gave Dr. Leeds a penchant for difficult surgeries.

Early Career

Dr. Leeds grew up in Simi Valley, CA and was a well-known television and film actress. She had many roles but her best known role was in 1988 as 11-year-old Hillary Whitney portraying the young version of Barbara Hershey’s character in the Academy Award-winning film, Beaches. Coincidentally, she co-starred opposite Mayim Bialik, who portrayed the younger version of Bette Middler's character and earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). After a role as Gary's girlfriend (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) on the TV series Parenthood, Dr. Leeds left acting to pursue her medical career.
